This weeks speaker Allen Anway began his power point presentation called "The Greatest Scientific Prize - Ever" with a photo he took last week of a Rotary sign in Boston, announcing the club's meeting place and date.

It's always a help to tourists to have signage showing the way, unlike navigators in the 1700s who couldn't determine their longitude on a moving ship. A great scientific prize, close to 3 million dollars in today's money, was offered to anyone who could invent a way to help ships from getting lost. After his 4th attempt John Harrison invented the chronometer and won the prize!
